Child-Specific Media Campaigns

MARE coordinates numerous ongoing media campaigns featuring specific children available for adoption. Some of the most well known are Wednesday’s Child with Jack Williams on WBZ-TV 4 Boston, Sunday’s Child®in the Boston Globe and En Busca de Hogar with Sara Suarez on Univision. Below is a complete list of MARE’s media campaigns.  Please consult with your Child Services Coordinator for more information on scheduling a child for any of these features. 

Television

  • Wednesday’s Child is a weekly television recruitment program hosted by Jack Williams on the WBZ-TV 4 Boston News. Only New England’s legally free children are featured each week during the Wednesday 6:00 p.m. newscast. Read profiles and view the actual TV segments of the children featured at http://wbztv.com/wednesday/.
  • En Busca de un Hogar is a Spanish television recruitment program hosted by Sara Suarez on the Univision New England News. New England’s legally free Latino children are regularly featured during the 6:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. newscasts.

Newspapers

  • The Boston Parents’ Paper hosts a monthly recruitment feature of legally free children.
  • The Daily Hampshire Gazette hosts a biweekly recruitment feature. A legally free child or sibling group is featured on the second and fourth Saturday of the month. The paper is distributed in Western Massachusetts.
  • The Free Bird Times hosts a monthly recruitment column featuring legally free or legal risk children. The paper is distributed in Southeastern Massachusetts and on Cape Cod.
  • Sunday’s Child® is a weekly recruitment column in the Sunday Boston Globe. Individual children and sibling groups are featured, both legally free and legal risk.
  • The Taunton Daily Gazette hosts a monthly recruitment feature. A legally free child or sibling group is featured when space is available.
  • Today’s Child is a weekly recruitment column in the Sunday Boston Herald. Individual children and sibling groups are featured, both legally free and legal risk.
  • The Worcester Telegram and Gazette hosts a monthly recruitment column. Only legally free children are featured in the column that is published the last Monday of the month.

  • Turley Publications publishes a monthly recruitment column. A legally free child or sibling group is featured when space is available.

  • The Middlesex East publishes a monthly recruitment column on the third Wednesday of every month.

Newspapers in Spanish

  • El Mundo is a Spanish newspaper in Boston which features articles about adoption and legally free children of Latino descent on a “space available” basis. www.elmundoboston.com
  • El Pueblo Latino a weekly Spanish newspaper in Springfield which features legally free children of Latino descent.
  • Rumbo is a bilingual paper in Lawrence, MA that hosts a biweekly column featuring legally free children of Latino descent. The column is printed in English and Spanish.
  • Siglo 21 hosts a weekly column featuring legally free children of Latino descent. The column is printed in Spanish.

  • El Planeta is a statewide Spanish paper that features articles about adoption and legally free children of Latino descent as space is available.
