Walk for Adoption
How You Can Help

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with MARE. The following are a few examples of volunteer opportunities at MARE, but we appreciate your time and talents and are open to discussing other opportunities:

Americorp VISTA Volunteers. The VISTA positions for 2011/2012 have been filled. Please keep us in mind for the 2012/2013 year.

Events
Volunteers can assist in the planning of agency events as well as assisting at the events themselves, such as Adoption Parties and fundraising events.

Heart Gallery display
The Heart Gallery is a striking exhibit of portraits of children in the state’s foster care system in need of adoption. Professional and amateur photographers volunteer their expertise to create remarkable images of the children. Volunteers can recruit locations to host the Heart Gallery portraits and information. We also need volunteers to transport the exhibit, setting it up or breaking it down, to move it to its next location.

Office Assistant
Volunteers can provide information and referrals for couples and individuals interested in adoption. This includes referring callers to the social workers for specific children. MARE also needs assistance with general office work such as updating children’s files, helping with mailings, photocopying, data entry, website updates, or covering the easy-to-handle switchboard by answering and forwarding calls.

Photographers
Professional and amateur photographers are needed for the Heart Gallery as well as at various agency events.

To apply to be a volunteer with MARE, please download, complete and mail our volunteer application or contact Bridget Chiaruttini at 617-54-ADOPT (617-542-3678).

NOTE: MARE requires the completion of an application and confidentiality agreement to become a volunteer. For volunteers assisting with children, a criminal records background check (CORI) may be required.

INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

MARE offers a variety of internship experiences to both undergraduate and graduate students. Internships can be tailored to meet the needs of individual students. View the descriptions below for more information and contact details.
