| About
MARE
There
are approximately 3,000 children in the Massachusetts
foster care system with a goal of adoption.
- Roughly
1,000 of these children are legally free for adoption.
- More
than 600 children with a goal of adoption do not have an
adoptive family identified.
- In
2004, 345 children were newly registered with MARE.
- Over
50% of these children are biracial children and children
of color.
- In
2004, MARE programs and services helped 175 children find
loving, permanent families.
The MARE Mission
MARE exists to find "a
place to call HOME"
for CHILDREN
in foster care including sibling groups and children who are
traditionally harder to place. We do this by recruiting, educating,
supporting and advocating for FAMILIES
throughout the adoption process.
