HI! My name is Alexander.
“I like to take walks.”
Let
me tell you more about myself…
I’m pretty good at doing puzzles.
And
here’s what others say…
A joy to be around, Alex is a friendly and engaging child
who is a favorite among the staff at his residential home. He is interested
in a number of activities, including swimming, walking and dancing. Fifteen
years old, Alex was born of Cape Verdian descent. He has worked hard to
gain many new skills despite the challenges of autism and developmental
delays. Alex has increased his ability to communicate by using pictures
and is able to complete many daily living skills independently. He gets
along well with the other children at his residential home and has strong
bonds with several of the staff members. At school, Alexander benefits
from a small, separate classroom that provides him with the communication,
social and educational supports to be successful. He has had many recent
successes within his community and has been able to better tolerate noise
and groups of people. Alexander has shown tremendous growth over the years
and those who are involved in his life all have an overwhelmingly positive
response when speaking about him. Many are thrilled and amazed by his
recent progress. Legally free for adoption, Alex would do well with a
single or two-parent family, with or without children, who will understand
his needs for a significant support system as well as provide him with
the routines and structure he loves.
If I could
have my own special wish…
I would have a home that gives me lots of love
and understanding.
