HI!
My name is Jarrid.
“I’m a people person.”
Let
me tell you more about myself…
I really like to help out.
And
here’s what others say…
Jarrid is a talkative,
friendly and outgoing boy who is ready to join a permanent family. He
currently lives in a small group home where the staff say he is responsible
and the “best liked” child there. Jarrid loves being around
people and usually tries to be helpful. He is quite generous and eager
to please. Eleven years old, Jarrid has many interests including a love
for the outdoors, going camping and fishing. He is a Boy Scout and a member
of the YMCA where he likes to swim. Jarrid especially enjoys trying his
hand at fixing things, and with assistance, he’s good at it. He
does well at school with the available supports that he uses to address
the challenges due to mild mental retardation. Though he functions at
about a first grade level, his comprehension is much higher. With the
help of therapy, Jarrid is learning stronger coping skills for dealing
with frustration and is learning to express his feelings. Legally free
for adoption, Jarrid’s social worker is seeking a two-parent family
with or without other children who will help Jarrid remain connected to
his siblings. The staff at Jarrid’s current placement will help
with his transition to a new family. In Jarrid’s wish list, he wants
a family that is fair and “uses nice words around children; speaks
English clearly; has some place where I can lock up my special things;
has some place where my tools can be kept away from little kids; helps
me to feel safe and gives me the chance to help around the house and fix
things.” Jarrid is a loving, caring boy who would just blossom in
a family of his own.”
If I could
have my own special wish…
I’d have a family of my very own.
