NATIONAL
ADOPTION MONTH
November is National Adoption Month. It is a month set aside to raise awareness about adoption of children from foster care. Each year there are national and state events to recognize and celebrate adoption. Below are a few ways MARE helps to raise awareness during National Adoption Month each year.
National
Adoption Day
On National Adoption Day, an unprecedented number of courts across the country will open their doors to legalize the adoptions of thousands of children from foster care and to celebrate and honor all families that adopt. On Friday, November 20, 2009 (always the Friday before Thanksgiving in Massachusetts), we will celebrate the adoption of over 200 children from state foster care into loving permanent families in eight courthouses across the Commonwealth. MARE is the lead organizer for National Adoption Day in Massachusetts.
MARE
Awards for Social Workers
Established in 1998, the MARE Awards recognize the exceptional work done by adoption agencies and individual social workers to accomplish our common goal of finding permanent families for waiting children.
