Laurie, 16, is an adventurous adolescent who is up for just about anything with a trusted adult. Kind and loyal, Laurie is good to his friends and those he is close to. Laurie has developed strong relationships with his foster mother and staff at his former group home. He enjoys being helpful and can often be found at the neighbors raking leaves or shoveling. Born of African American and Hispanic heritage, Laurie enjoys spending his time with people from other cultures. Sports are important to Laurie, and he especially enjoys basketball, baseball and skateboarding. He has expressed interest in playing high school football and ice hockey. Laurie is an engaging adolescent who works hard at all that he does. Laurie is looking forward to starting a new school this year. Reading is a challenge for Laurie, but he tries hard and is making great progress with the help of a computer program that also helps him with speech. Laurie needs some supervision with daily living tasks and redirection to stay focused. He continues to work on understanding and expressing his emotions. Laurie will benefit from a home that will provide consistency and structure. He will thrive in a family who will appreciate his hard work and nurture his continued successes. Legally free for adoption, Laurie would do well in a single or two-parent household in which he can have space of his own.
