“My friends call me JJ.”

Let me tell you more about myself…
I want to be a superhero when I grow up!

And here’s what others say…

Joel, whose nickname is JJ, is an energetic and affectionate 8-year-old boy of African American and Caucasian descent. The adults in his life describe him as kind, caring and lovable. Joel enjoys listening to music, playing video games, playing outside and watching his favorite television programs. A budding baseball player, Joel is a likeable little guy who likes nothing better than to please others.

Joel is meeting with success in his current foster home, where he benefits from the structure that is provided there and where he responds well to redirection. He has really started to blossom in the last few months and is more able to engage in a conversation, especially around topics related to baseball, going to the beach, swimming and watching fireworks.

At school, Joel is in the third grade and will have a one-on-one aid in a separate classroom. He does best in a structured environment where he receives guidance around his ability to focus and complete his work. Joel gets along well with the adults in his life and is working hard to replicate this success in his peer relationships.

Legally free for adoption, Joel would do best with a two-parent family of any constellation, with or without older children. A family with experience navigating the emotional and educational needs of children would be best. It is also important to Joel that a family be open to him having continued contact with his birthmother.

If I could have my own special wish…
I would become a superhero and to have the power to fly.
