HI! My name is Alyssa.
"I love story time"

And here's what others say...
Alyssa is an affectionate, alert 11-year-old Caucasian girl. In her current placement, the staff note that she enjoys being hugged and tickled. Alyssa seeks out staff for attention and responds well to positive praise. Alyssa is working on interacting more with her peers.

Alyssa has been diagnosed with a number of medical and development disabilities. She is being followed by a team of doctors and specialists, including occupational, speech and physical therapists, that will continue throughout her life. Alyssa is working on self-feeding and other self-care skills, but is fully dependent on others for assistance with her daily care. She utilizes a wheelchair but is able to walk short distances with assistance from others for stability. She benefits from being made aware of any changes to her schedule.

Alyssa has been introduced to communication devices and is using picture symbols to choose between activities and objects. She also uses an IPAD with assistance. Alyssa is able to communicate through her facial expressions and physical gestures. She has been observed to respond to familiar names, faces, and preferred activities by smiling and waving her hands in excitement. She will reach for her preferred items though she does not always engage in the choice she has made. She enjoys toys with movement and sounds and is fan of bouncing on the therapy balls.

Legally freed for adoption, Alyssa would ideally do best in a two-parent family with older children. She should continue to have contact with her two sisters, birth mother and maternal grandmother.
