Introduction
Angel is a very independent and bright young man. According to his social worker, he is a great kid who is very sociable and compassionate. He is introverted initially, but once he is relaxed enough to open up, he is funny, witty, and streetwise. Angel is an exceptionally talented athlete and loves sports, specifically playing baseball and football. Angel is very modest about his talent and would say he is just "alright", however, his confidence shows when he plays. Angel also enjoys playing video games and likes to watch movies. Angel wants to be an athlete in the future, but he is young and exploring other possibilities.
Angel is currently enrolled in middle school and navigates its complexities with the support of an IEP and individual attention. He enjoys school and is currently working on his focus and drive which was affected by his numerous transitions. Currently, Angel is doing well with his supports. He has formed close friendships in school and maintains connections with friends from his previous schools. He has a great relationship with his foster family and a close relationship with his coaches. Angel also has developed a close relationship with a mentor that he visits weekly. He is the only child in his foster home but has formed a great relationship with the children in their extended family.
Angel would thrive with a family of any constellation with or without other children in the home. His social worker is looking for a family that will provide an environment of trust, structure, routine, and be trauma informed. Angel is of Hispanic descent and speaks Spanish. It is important that interested families be firmly committed to providing appropriate ethnic and cultural role models and education regarding his culture. It is also important that Angel be encouraged to maintain his connection with his birth family as Angel longs for their connection and closeness. This includes visits with his little sister and occasional contact with his older brother and older sister.
