Introduction

Skylar is a charming little girl. She loves to dance, listen to music, play musical instruments, and enjoys imaginary play. She is also described as social, outgoing, curious and very energetic. In great health and a good eater and sleeper Skylar is learning to advocate for herself and how to express her feelings when something is bothering her. Skylar thrives on positive nurturing and one-on-one attention. Skylar loves unicorns, foxes, dogs, cats and says that someday she wants to be a veterinarian.

She loves school which offers her the structure and routine that she thrives on. She has an educational plan in place for social and emotional needs and she also receives speech therapy. She has made positive progress this past year with expressing her feelings verbally and with her social skills. She uses her coping skills to help her stop, think, and calm down when upset. Skylar has many strengths but has a difficult time recognizing them and often needs reminders of what these are.

Skylar has asked for a mom and dad family with pets in the home but any most family constellation will be considered. She will need a family to go above and beyond to show her their love, affection and attention. They also will need to follow through with routine and structure as this is what Skylar thrives on. Out of state families are being considered but they would need to first be a regular visitor with Skylar in order to form a trusting relationship and bond with her. Once this healthy relationship has been formed Skylar can move forward with transitioning into this family's home. In addition Skylar's new family must be able to commit to keeping her connected to her 3 siblings with in-person visits and other forms of communication. Her siblings currently live in western MA.
