Introduction
Jayce is a friendly and funny boy who is described by others as ‚"delightful," and is happiest when he's making people laugh. When he's not telling jokes or making funny faces, Jayce can be found hanging out with friends, playing Roblox or tending to his vegetable garden. He enjoys cooking with the foods he has grown, and dreams of cooking on TV with Guy Fieri!
Jayce works at grade level in school and communicates effectively with adults and peers. He is diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and uses a wheelchair for mobility. He is skilled in maneuvering his wheelchair and works hard to be as independent as possible.
Jayce is looking forward to joining a family, and hopes to have opportunities to spend time with other kids and with any kind of animals. He particularly enjoys cats! While a two-parent home with or without children is preferred, single parents with a robust support system will be considered. Jayce communicates with his paternal grandmother through email and phone calls, and visits with his half-sister. It is important to him that he can maintain these relationships. A family should be committed to supporting and advocating for Jayce, and should also be prepared to laugh a lot! While Jayce is looking for a permanent home, his social worker also feels that he could benefit from a visiting resource and is open to exploring that option with anyone who might be interested.
