Introduction

Kyle is a bright, curious 11-year-old that loves exploring his environment and spending time with familiar people. Those close to him describe Kyle as “a great kid.” He has a fun sense of humor and loves to be silly. Kyle consistently engages in parallel play and is working on interactive play skills. He has benefited from the consistent and predictable routines provided by his placement. Kyle is both flexible and resilient, which can clearly be seen in his ability to overcome perceived obstacles.

In school, Kyle thrives when provided with a multi-sensory approach to learning. He is a kinesthetic learner that does best when he is able to physically interact with lessons, particularly hands-on science experiments and cooking projects. Along those lines, Kyle is drawn to toys with sensory components such as lights, music, or vibration. He also enjoys watching educational videos on his tablet or the classroom Smartboard. His class recently took a field trip to an animal shelter and his teachers noted that Kyle was very gentle with the dogs he met.

Kyle loves any experience involving water and therefore bathing is a favorite part of his daily routine. He also enjoys splash pads, swimming pools, and beaches. Kyle particularly likes being outdoors where he can go for walks, swing, and bounce on the trampoline. He doesn’t mind getting messy with activities like fingerpainting, playing with shaving cream, or using slime. Blowing bubbles with him is also a great way to connect.

The right family for Kyle will be able to support him in his development and advocate for the services he requires to be successful. A loving family with either multiple parents or a single parent with a strong support system will be the best match for him. Kyle has a positive relationship with his biological mother that needs to be maintained and connections to the community will ensure that an adoptive family is able to balance their needs. Those looking to become a visiting connection for a child are also encouraged to inquire about Kyle.
