Introduction
Music is the heart of Yomiah's world, and one of the many ways he connects with the people around him. At 16 years old, he has an incredible ability to remember the special songs he shares with others and will often greet familiar people by singing "their" song. It's his unique way of building relationships and creating joyful moments with those he cares about.
Yomiah is a sweet, affectionate, and curious young man who loves spending time with others. Whether he's singing favorites by Kelly Clarkson, Taylor Swift, or Lady Gaga, dancing with excitement, or reaching out to hold someone's hand, his enthusiasm is contagious. He also enjoys being active and especially loves swinging, jumping on trampolines, and spending time outdoors.
Yomiah has made wonderful progress in his communication skills. He now communicates using spoken words, signs, augmentative communication, and is also learning tactile symbols and Braille. He thrives with individualized support, predictable routines, and caregivers who celebrate his accomplishments while encouraging him to continue growing.
Yomiah would do best with a patient, nurturing family that is committed to advocating for his needs and working closely with his educational, medical, and therapeutic teams. A family with a medical background—or one that is eager to learn—would be well prepared to support him throughout his life.
Those who know Yomiah describe him as joyful, loving, and someone who leaves a lasting impression through his music and genuine affection for others. The family who welcomes Yomiah will discover a remarkable young man whose laughter, songs, and unique way of connecting with people will fill their home with happiness.
