Introduction

Shane is a very friendly boy who is engaging, happy, very social and friendly. He enjoys riding horses, running, and swimming. Very inquisitive Shane loves to explore the outdoors and be involved in community events like local fairs, festivals and farmer's markets. When he goes out Shane likes eating at restaurants, going to the movies, playing in parks and in play grounds. When staying inside he likes to use his IPad, watch TV and listen to music. Although his vocabulary is still limited he is making progress enlarging it. Shane is able to express his needs and wants from residential staff. His social worker states that he has a strong desire for independence. He is a picky eater but he is also a good eater. He is able to independently complete his daily hygiene routine with minimal supervision but he does need one-on-one supervision for his own safety.

Shane would do well in a two-parent family with or without other children in the home. Other family constellations will also be considered. Most importantly, Shane needs a family who will love him and provide ongoing structure, routine, and support for his needs. He would also benefit from having a visitor or a mentor who would come to visit with him at his program on a regular basis.
