Hello! My name is Jason. I’m Puerto Rican and speak some Spanish but I'm not fluent. I have extended family who live in Puerto Rico. I'm hoping to find a Hispanic family who can help me learn more about my culture and teach me more Spanish!

 

I have monthly visits with my younger sister who's in the process of being adopted. We enjoy our visits in the community at parks, museums, and so on. I have less contact with my younger adult sister who lives out of state with our biological mom. I also have inconsistent contact with my mom as well. We have phone calls and send text messages. I visited both my mom and younger adult sister for two weeks last fall.

 

While I would prefer a family with both a father and a mother figure as I haven't had that experience while growing up, I am also open to other types of families.

 

I consider myself a respectful and kind young adult. Although I might seem shy and timid at first, I’m actually outgoing and engaging. I love spending time in the community and going on activities. I'm very passionate and caring about my family and friends.

 

I have many hobbies, including playing video games, playing the guitar, cooking, and spending time with friends and family. My favorite movies are Treasure Planet and Pirates of the Caribbean. My favorite food type is seafood, like shrimp, tilapia, sushi, crab, and lobster. I have aspirations to travel more in the future.

 

I graduated from high school. My favorite subjects in school were ELA and History. I was part of the Dungeons and Dragons Club at the high school and enjoyed connecting with my classmates and teachers. Since graduating, I completed a culinary program. I’m interested in furthering my culinary background through additional training and courses.

 

I currently live in a group setting. Having a roommate in group care can be challenging at times, but I have positive relationships with my housemates and the staff. I enjoy the flexibility of being close to my community and working on my goals. I'm very close with my younger sister and look forward to our monthly visits together. I also like to spend time with my friends and I keep in touch with a friend from out of state.

 

Due to my age, I know that I might not live with a parent or caring adult that I’m matched with. However, I would still like to have a parent-child relationship and a place to spend holidays!
