Introduction
Cristian, who goes by CJ, is a handsome and cheerful boy who smiles and laughs often. He is polite, respectful, and affectionate. CJ enjoys community outings, going to the movies, playing at local parks, and any outdoor activities when the weather is nice. He loves animals and often shares his drawings during visits, proudly naming animals and demonstrating the sounds they make. CJ’s favorite color is red, his favorite character is Spiderman, and if he could choose one meal every day it would be chicken and rice. He enjoys coloring, drawing, and practicing writing. CJ gives and receives affection through high-fives and hugs. He follows directions well when they are given one step at a time, which helps him learn to complete tasks independently. Overall, CJ is well-behaved, curious, sweet, and loving.
CJ is currently placed in a residential program and attends the on-site educational collaborative. He takes full advantage of the additional supports and services available to him and continues to blossom as a result. CJ performs well academically, with particular strengths in math and writing. He maintains positive relationships with both his peers and teachers, contributing to a supportive and encouraging classroom environment. CJ is currently thriving in his residential placement. He takes responsibility for his chores and household tasks and completes them well, sometimes needing a few gentle reminders.
CJ would do well with a family of any constellation, with or without other children in the home, who can provide the nurturing environment and consistent routine he needs to thrive. A family experienced in advocating for and managing educational support programs would be beneficial to his continued growth and development. Interested families should also be open to supporting CJ’s transition from a residential program into a family setting. CJ is biracial, of African American and Hispanic descent, and while families of all backgrounds will be considered, it is important that his adoptive family help him maintain and celebrate his cultural connections. It is also important to CJ that his relationship with his siblings be maintained which includes visits and contact.
