Introduction
Serenity is a sweet, shy, and bubbly “girly-girl” who loves dolls, make-up, hair, and nails. She is also sweet, sensitive, and full of energy. Serenity takes time to warm up to new people and situations and may sometimes revert to a timid voice but with gentle encouragement, she is learning to use her “big girl voice” to express big feelings. Once she feels comfortable, Serenity is a true chatterbox! Serenity is highly creative, with a particular talent for drawing and painting. She has a curiosity that moves her to ask lots of questions and explore new things, and she loves learning. Music is a big passion for her, with Taylor Swift as her favorite artist. Serenity is sweet, sensitive, and full of energy. Serenity is kind and caring toward her peers. She also loves swimming.
Serenity attends a local public school, where she enjoys learning and actively engages in classroom activities. Although she has experienced several transitions in her schooling that have resulted in some academic gaps, her current school team has provided exceptional support to help her navigate these changes. School staff speak of her highly, noting her consistent eagerness to help in the classroom. She has developed strong peer relationships and identifies several classmates as her “best friends.” Serenity demonstrates healthy social understanding, showing awareness that a friend’s poor decision does not define their overall character.
Serenity is currently placed in a residential program with other children and has been doing well in that setting. She interacts wonderfully with younger children, showing a natural ability to help and care for them. She has shared that she hopes to become a foster parent when she gets older. She also does very well with her two biological siblings during visits, expressing love and enjoyment in spending time with them.
Serenity with flourish with a caring and dedicated family of any constellation with no other children in the home, as she may need additional time to fully adjust to a home and feel completely comfortable. The ideal families will have experience with trauma-informed care and therapeutic parenting and be willing to utilize and support therapeutic services as needed. Serenity is biracial, with African American, Hispanic, and Caucasian heritage. It is important that she is provided with accurate cultural information and positive ethnic role models. Open discussions about race, racism, and discrimination will help support the healthy development of her identity and self-esteem. Interested families should support Serenity’ s relationship with her siblings and birth family which includes contact and visits.
