Introduction

Romen is very curious about how the world works and is not afraid to ask questions and try new things.  He brings energy to a group setting and lots of excitement when learning topics that interest him.  He is very independent and take the leads on his own endeavors. Never hesitant to speak up and share his thoughts and opinions Romen stand out from his peers by having a natural curiosity and confidence in social situations. This trait makes him memorable to those around him and his peers who he engages with easily.   Romen learns best through experience ans shows strong problem solving skills. His excitement about the world and his openness to new experiences  suggests that he will continue to develop new passions as he gets older. Romen is currently in the 5th grade  at a local elementary school.  He enjoys reading, science and math and in his free time he has participated in martial arts.

Having type 1 diabetes Romen lives in residential setting yet he still has strong and positive bonds with his maternal grandparents, a former foster family and his maternal great aunt who all visits with him monthly.  He would do best in a 2 parent household but a strong and structured 1 parent family would also be fine.  He is also comfortable with an LGBTQ+ family.  Romen does well with children of all ages but a home with older children or no other children is recommended. He would do well in a home with pets and he really loves dogs.  His new family should be trained in diabetes management care which is something that Romen's endocrinologist will offer to his new family.
