Introduction
Sebastian is a resilient and engaging young man who brings a positive and upbeat energy to those around him. He is well liked by peers and teachers and is known for being courteous, respectful, and thoughtful in his interactions with others. Sebastian’s warm personality helps him build strong friendships and trusting relationships with supportive adults. Sebastian often approaches life with determination and strives to remain hopeful about the future.
Sebastian enjoys staying active and participating in sports such as football, soccer, volleyball, and track, and he also likes spending time playing video games. Over the past year, Sebastian has had the opportunity to try several new activities, including riding a roller coaster for the first time, visiting a water park, and going bowling. He greatly enjoyed these experiences, which have been exciting for him and reflect his willingness to explore new activities and environments.
During interactions with his Adoption Social Worker, he often shares music that he feels reflects his thoughts and emotions. Music is an important outlet for Sebastian, and he enjoys sharing songs that reflect his thoughts and feelings. One song he shared, “Die a Beggar” by Josiah Queen, highlights themes of perseverance and staying true to one’s values. Much like the message in the song, Sebastian continues to move forward with strength and hope as he looks toward a future filled with love, support, and family.
Sebastian attends a local public school in a general education classroom setting and is reported to enjoy attending school. He performs well in classroom activities and instruction and consistently meets expectations. The structure and routine of the school environment appear to support his success. Sebastian enjoys opportunities to socialize with peers and engage in activities he finds enjoyable. He has developed positive relationships with both peers and school staff and appears to be well liked within the school community.
Sebastian particularly enjoys music and physical education classes, which allow him to express himself creatively and remain physically active. He previously participated on the school’s football team and has expressed interest in joining additional sports, such as volleyball and cross-country or track. Overall, Sebastian demonstrates appropriate engagement in the school environment and continues to build supportive relationships with peers and staff.
Sebastian currently resides in a residential program, where he has adapted well to the structured routine and benefits from the support of staff. He is said to be respectful, cooperative, and polite, building positive relationships with both peers and supportive adults. Sebastian places great value on his relationships with his brothers. He expresses a strong desire to transition to a permanent family environment, where he can experience stability, belonging, and continued connection with his siblings.
Sebastian hopes to be part of a supportive and loving family environment. He has expressed that having a home where he feels safe, cared for, and supported by parents is very important to him. Sebastian will thrive in a family of any constellation, whether or not there are other children in the home. He is of Hispanic descent, and it is important that interested families be firmly committed to providing appropriate ethnic and cultural role models and education regarding his culture. Sebastian also values maintaining strong relationships with his brothers and hopes for opportunities to continue spending time with them, even if they are not placed in the same home.
