What is Second Nurture and how does it work?
Second Nurture is a non-profit organization that partners with communities to
service foster/adoptive families. We hold monthly meetings for foster/adoptive
parents, which we call cohorts, to build a supportive network outside of the
traditional foster care team of social workers and professionals. At each cohort, we
provide free childcare in another room at the same location and our Family Support
Specialist will be there to guide the conversation and assist as needed.
Everyone likes to say, “It takes a village…” but foster/adoptive parents often feel like
they have to go at it alone. Not with Second Nurture – we are here to provide a level
of support that can only be achieved through shared, lived experiences.
