What is Second Nurture and how does it work?
Second Nurture is a non-profit organization that partners with communities to service foster/adoptive families. We hold monthly meetings for foster/adoptive parents, which we call cohorts, to build a supportive network outside of the traditional foster care team of social workers and professionals. At each cohort, we provide free childcare in another room at the same location and our Family Support Specialist will be there to guide the conversation and assist as needed.
Everyone likes to say, “It takes a village…” but foster/adoptive parents often feel like they have to go at it alone. Not with Second Nurture – we are here to provide a level of support that can only be achieved through shared, lived experiences.

Adirondak Camping Adventure for Those Who’ve Experienced Foster Care (ages 16-22)
August 22nd – August 26th
This August, Compass Path is offering an adventure to the Adirondacks for teenagers aged 16+ or young adults who have experienced foster care. This trip is for a small group of eight teenagers with Compass facilitators. Teenagers and their guardians must complete a brief application and interview. The trip is free, except for a $50 deposit, which can be waived. More details and the application form can be found here.

These meetings will be held virtually through WebEx on the third Thursday of every month from 5:30-7:00 PM
