Description
Join us for a special virtual training series with Isaac Etter, a transracial adoptee who is passionate about sharing his story and helping adoptive families grow in understanding and connection. Isaac will begin the series by talking about his own adoption journey and what it was like growing up in a transracial family, offering a heartfelt perspective that adoptive parents don’t often get to hear firsthand. Then we’ll hear from both Isaac and his mom talk about lessons learned along the way. After that we’ll hear from Isaac’s friend Dr. David Adams who will talk about trauma-informed transracial parenting. Lastly, we will hear from another of Isaac’s friends and co-workers, Terria Roushun who will lead an engaging workshop about black hair care.
All of these sessions will be relaxed and welcoming spaces where you can listen, learn, and ask questions. Isaac is open, down-to-earth, and ready to engage in honest conversation — making this a wonderful opportunity to gain insight into the adoptee experience and how to better support your children as they grow.
Whether you’re early in your adoption journey or have been parenting for years, this time together promises to be encouraging, eye-opening, and filled with connection.
Families at all stages of the adoption or foster care process are welcome to come, as well as social workers and friends. You are welcome to all or some – it’s okay if you can’t come to all of them. Foster/pre-adoptive training certificates will be available.
Please register for each session you wish to attend. A Zoom link for each training will be shared two weeks prior to the first training and then one week prior to each additional training.
